I referred briefly in my last posting to the fact that I was diagnosed recently with Type 1 diabetes. Initially it was thought I had Type 2, but this is usual in later life or linked to an unhealthy lifestyle and/or obesity, and I’m in pretty good shape.
Type 1 means insulin dependency, Type 2 can be managed for the most part with other drugs and a change in lifestyle. My sister has been insulin dependent since the age of 7, so it didn’t come as a big surprise to me, but took a bit of getting used to. Now that it has settled down a bit, I’ve felt better than I have in years and am in what is known as the honeymoon period, where my insulin dependency is small because my body is still producing some. This could change in 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years.
