To All Frequent Flyers

As the blurb goes:

Comparison shop for the best fares on airline and travel websites. Yapta will track fares for the flights you like and notify you when prices drop.

Yapta is a wonderful Web service that ‘does exactly what it says on the box’, and has just added a Firefox Add-on to their offerings. We at Briks had the pleasure to help bring it to fruition.

The service is focused on N. American airlines currently, but hopefully they will expand their services further afield at some point. I’d use it, even if I am not as frequent a flyer as I would like. Don’t trust me? … see what others have been saying:

It’s not just “focused” on North American airlines, it doesn’t do anything at all if it doesn’t support your airline. It doesn’t support NorthWest or any European airlines, making it practically useless for me as I would only be able to use it if I specifically flew Delta or Continental to the US (as I have a Frequent Flyer thing with SkyTeam) which is then mostly useless as neither of those airlines have a lot of flights from AMS. :-(

Gijs, I believe plans are afoot to support Northwest, and other N. American airlines. Stay tuned to Yapta for updates. The current list of supported airlines is:

    - American Airlines
    - AirTran Airways
    - Alaska Airways
    - Continental
    - Delta
    - Jet Blue
    - Ted
    - United
    - US Airways

Yapta is cool, but I find that it’s better to get a great fare in the fist place, so you don’t have to fight with the airlines for a refund or voucher after the fact. The best site I’ve found for getting a rock-bottom deal is Airfarewatchdog.com.

These guys search thousands of airfares by hand every day to come up with the best possible deals. They cover all of the discount carriers as well as specials listed only on airline websites. Plus you can sign up for a daily newsletter which let’s you know about the best fares from your city.

    Worth checking out…
