Fancy tag lines aside, I’m happy to announce the availability of Fotofox. It slipped out under the covers last Friday as a public Beta to get feedback and bug reports.
Fotofox is a direct replacement for the Pickup uploader, bigger and better. So if you have Pickup installed, I recommend that you uninstall it completely first.

Fotofox loaded in the Firefox sidebar
So what is new? At its heart, Fotofox is an uploading tool, with support for different services. Currrently the list is 23, Flickr, Marela, SmugMug, and Tabblo, More services will follow.
The services are supported by a list of features that includes:
- Sidebar support. Fotofox now loads in the browser sidebar by default, and uploads without intruding on your Web browsing.
- Better persistence of images in preview between sessions.
- Application of metadata (titles, tags, album, privacy) to one or multiple selected images.
- Adding images from Web pages for uploading, via Drag&Drop or the image context menu.
- Tighter integration with the service Web site.
- Fancier UI!
There are still a couple of issues to be ironed out, the biggest being that it doesn’t work on all Linux distros currently. We are working hard to resolve these. So try it out and let us know what you think. Bug reports and feature requests can be posted on the extension forum thread on Mozillazine.

One thing I forgot, I think that the context menu would fit better into the Save Image As.. and Send Image… section than into the View.
Support for Picasa Web would be nice.
Hi! Great job! Hungarian start-up, photoshare site would love to have this taylor-made to our API as new photo service account if possible. Please contact us how this could be worked out, Firefox download would also be available from the site, would offer Fotox to user as a batch upload solution!
Your kind feedback would be truly appreciated!
