Early Whiteness

The snow has come early this season, or perhaps I have a short memory and am trying to shut out thoughts of wet socks and digging incessantly from last year. In fact, I like snow because it’s still a novelty coming from the mild winters in Ireland. Not having to drive in it much helps too.

But I was driving in it last night on the way home from my talk in Ljubljana. The snow was fresh on the roads and the trucks had not been out yet. What an adventure that was! At one point, there were at least 10 cars stranded on the side of the road, suffering from some minor collision damage. Other folks were driving too slow, probably because they hadn’t changed to their winter tyres yet. So for anyone out there today driving around, may the force be with you.

About the drivers driving too slow… it’s mostly just that they’re terrified of driving in winter/snowing conditions. I think so, but good winter tires make a huge difference. So do yourself a favour and invest in some quality winter tyres.
    Good luck driving. :)

Oh thanks Mark. I had my winter tyres fitted already, and was passing all those slow drivers as much as I could!

    Hi there, Mr King!

We hope that you are well. We don’t have snow here yet, but when it comes the country will grind to a halt. It’s cold though–a night for a pizza and a dvd from the crap video shop. What are you up to this weekend? Waht are your plans for Xmas? We hope you are still planning a trip to milder regions.

    Take care,
    Ana and Kieran
