As best I can tell, the current state is:

Releases 1.0.x -> 1.0 1.5beta1 -> 1.4 1.5beta2 -> 1.4.1

Nightlies Branch ( Pre-Firefox RC1 ) -> 1.4(.1) Branch (Post-Firefox RC1 ) -> 1.5 Trunk (Deer Park Alpha 2) -> 1.6a1

Depends on the nightly.
Branch nightlies as of today is 1.5 (as it the RC)
Trunk nightlies I believe are 1.6b

And as mentione before
1.5beta1 -> 1.4
1.5beta2 -> 1.4.1

However I’ve heard wildcards were checked in, so your max could be 1.4* and works in both beta1 and 2.

You’re right up to 1.5b1.

1.5b2 -> 1.4.1 (this was originally planned to be the number for 1.5rc1, but that was when only one beta was planned).

Latest nightlies -> 1.4.1

Tomorrow’s build -> 1.5 (mscott just checked in a patch to bump it – bug 312392)

rc1 -> 1.5

1.5 -> 1.5

TB 1.5b2 shows as 1.4.1 and a 1.4 maxversion in install.rdf failed the version check
