Poor Man’s Home Movie Theatre

I’ve been stuck back in the 20th century with regard to film watching. I go to the movies when I can (watching at home doesn’t match the experience), but every so often like to watch at home. We have a battered VCR, and the selection at our local video shop is appalling.

I don’t want to buy a DVD player because it would mostly gather dust, so as an interim measure I decided to try and hook up my laptop (with DVD) to the TV. Results are pretty successful, but only after a phone call to a friend and a bit of fiddling.

Step 1, buy a SCART cable. I was flying blind after that, because I could not find any decent step by step instructions online how to set it up on my laptop. So if you are trying to do something similar, find out more how I did it.

First Views:
- The Best of R.E.M.
Fantastic videos for great songs, they really have an eye for the visual
- Grdi Racek (The Ugly Duckling)
My daughter didn’t like Little Red Riding Hood, but this one did the trick!
